Whatever challenges we have today can be conquered with positive patterns of thinking. If we observe the best athletes, skilled workers, and planners we recognize that they possess certain thought processes when dealing with a challenge. Regardless if they are attempting to make a foul shot on the basketball court, performing gymnastics or building a house, they have an automatic pattern of behavior that kicks in to assist them in accomplishing the goal. The basketball player steps up to the line, takes a deep breath, bounces the ball 3 times and shoots. Some of the best have made 90% of their foul shots by deploying their personalized way of shooting free throws. The gymnast envisions a perfect floor exercise routine and begins to practice until they have mastered the routine physically, emotionally and spiritually. The builder has a systematic process in terms of setting up and breaking down his work area in order to maintain a high level of efficiency. We all possess patterns of thought which leads to action which establishes habits. If we want these patterns of thought to be on a level of excellence we must ask ourselves a few questions:
What daily systems have we put in place to maintain positive patterns of thinking?
What can we do to raise our level of consciousness about improving our patterns of thinking? The more we think about improving, the higher the chances of improvement.
Who can we recruit to hold us accountable for sticking with the plans?
Our brains are like active computer memory, the data is constantly changing. If we input positive numbers we receive positive outputs. If we maintain positive patterns of thinking we will produce positive behavior.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
